Ex-gratia by PM, CM; Death toll climbs 21

PATNA/ MADHUBANI/ NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who is currently holding the portfolio of railway ministry, has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of victims of the mishap and Rs 50,000 each to the seriously injured, said ECR CPRO Neeraj Ambastha here.

On the other hand, CM Nitish Kumar, while consoling the bereaved families announced to pay an ex-gratia of Rs 1.50 lakh to the kin of each victim. While Rs 1 lakh will be paid by the state government, Rs 50,000 will be given from the CM Relief Fund.

The CM telephoned Madhubani DM and SP on receipt of information about the accident and asked them to visit the spot. He also asked chief secretary Anup Mukherjee to monitor the relief work.
