July 24, 2011, Patna: RASHTRIYA Janata Dal ( RJD) president Lalu Prasad’s apparent indifference towards his party since its rout in the Bihar assembly elections last year is proving detrimental to it. Senior leaders have been leaving the party one after another.
The latest to leave the “sinking ship” is former minister Shakeel Ahmad Khan, who was associated with Lalu for nearly two decades. A reputed lawyer, Khan was among Lalu’s staunchest defender in his troubled times.
Khan left the party a few days after another Lalu loyalist, Prof Ram Vachan Rai, severed ties with it. Lalu, however, does not seem worried about the exodus. He says anybody who wishes to leave the party should do so now. He apparently wants to start from scratch.
