Bhagalpur to get its own food park

KEVENTER TO DEVELOP THE FOOD PARK WITH FUTURE GROUP
TO INVEST RS 200 CRORE
June 8, 2011, Patna: As part of its major expansion plan, Keventer Group, a Rs 1800 crore Kolkata-based business conglomerate, is all set to foray into Bihar by developing a Food Park in the district of Bhagalpur. The company will set up a Rs 130 crore maize based unit processing starch, glucose and dextrose on its own and a Cattle Feed Plant in collaboration with Keenan Technologies of Ireland at Kahelgaon in Bihar Mega Food Park. The land for the food park has already been acquired and work will commence in the next 30 days. Spread over 125 acres, the food Park is being developed in partnership with the Future Group at an investment cost of Rs 200 crore.

The partnership food park involves 65 per cent investment from the Keventer Group and 35 per cent from the Futures Group, he added.
The land for the food park, spread over 125 acres, has already been acquired and work will commence in the next 30 days.

The company will also set up a Rs 130 crore maize-based unit processing starch, glucose and dextrose on its own and a Cattle Feed Plant in collaboration with Keenan Technologies of Ireland at Kahelgaon in Bihar Mega Food Park.

Keventer Group is an agro and food processing company of West Bengal, with three separate business verticals, namely Keventer Agro Limited , Keventer Fresh and Keventer Projects with almost 40 brands under the group name.

In Bengal, the group has tied up with Carso, a French food testing laboratory for setting up a testing laboratory.
The laboratory, formed as a 50:50 joint venture between Carso and Keventer, is to be complete by September with an investment of Rs 25 crore.

  1. This is really a great news as Bihar has begun to attract big ticket investment and more so in the field of food processing sector. In fact, development model for Bihar must go through agro-based industries and not with mega-land consuming ones. Kudos to Bihar government especially Nitish Kumar.
