‘Psycho killer’ Amit arrested in Patna

PATNA: “Let me come back from jail, I will kill rest of my father’s killers,” said Amit in front on Patna SSP Manu Maharaj. Patna police on Saturday night arrested ‘psycho killer’ Amit Kumar alias Avinash Srivastava along with his four accomplice from Maharani Colony under Bypass police station arms and ammunition and stolen pieces of ornaments.

The accused were involved in several cases of robbery and murder, under various police stations in the state capital, a national daily quoted Patna SSP as saying.

Interestingly, Amit is master in computer application (MCA) from prestigious Jamia Millia Islamic University, New Delhi. His father Lala Sinha was a former MLC who was murdered in 2002 allegedly by Pappu Khan’s gang. Amit avenged the killing of his father and in 2003 by pumping 32 bullets into Khan’s body.

After killing Pappu, Amit left Patna to pursue his MCA in Delhi. He came back to Patna and re-joined the criminal gangs. During interrogation Amit confessed to police of killing three of his father’s killers. Several cases under the Arms Act and murder are pending against Avinash since 2011. He was arrested on several occasions also but every time he was released on bail as the police had no idea that he was Pappu’s killer.

Amit never lived with his family after joining the criminal gangs. His mother and sister live in Kankarbagh.

According to clinical psychologist Brinda Singh killing Pappu Khan with 32 bullet indicated the frustration level of Amit. He said: “Anyone’s mind being dominated by thought of revenge leads to a situation when thought process does not remain coherent that further adds to the frustration level.”
