Major sex racket busted in Patna; 32 arrested, 26 girls rescued

PATNA: In a mid-day crackdown Patna police of Tuesday busted a major sex racket in the city. Based on secret information the police raided two restaurants near Gai Ghat under Alamganj police station and arrested 32 people while rescuing 26 girls.

According to SSP Patna Manu Maharaj all the girls and boys were found in objectionable position.  The restaurants, New Sheetal and Sangam lured customers through advertisements promising body massage and carried out the shady business.

The SSP further informed that police had also conducted raids in both the restaurants in February this year but somehow the owners got the sniff and managed the situation. The SSP further took cognizance of repeated complaints by the locals to police and decided to issue a show cause notice to Alamganj SHO for not taking the action.

The girls were sent to remand home while the youths were arrested under various provisions of the IPC.

Talking about the modus operandi of the restaurant, the SSP informed that the congested cabins of the restaurant was used for the immoral acts and most of the girls were hired by the youths for carnal pleasure.

After the random raids and sealing of men's beauty parlours in the city where the owners used to run flesh trade, Patna police are now keeping a tab on the mushrooming rest houses and family restaurants to curb flesh trade.
