The eternal wait for better healthcare in Bihar seems to be finally over as state-of the-art All India Institute of Medical Sciences – Patna (AIIMS- P) will start functioning from August 15 this year. The college wing of the hospital is already operational from lat academic session. The opening of medical service at AIIMS-P will provide huge relief to patients from Bihar who as of now travels all the way to Delhi for better healthcare.
In the first stage, according to the report published in a national daily, departments of trauma care, paediatrics, obstetrics; gynaecology, surgery, orthopaedics and radiology will become operational.
In the initial
phase of its operation, AIIMS-P will also provide round the clock emergency
services for accidental trauma, cardiology and brain strokes. Quoting hospital
director, the daily reported that hospital has plan of total 960 beds of which
172 will be operational in in-patient departments. The rest 788 beds will be
made functional in phases. The hospital will also have 50 beds for critical
patients.
AIIMS-P will also have ten special wards for VIP patients which will start functioning for this Independence Day. Each VIP ward would have a separate lavatory attached with a bed for patient, a sofa cum bed for the attendant besides a television set.
AIIMS-P had selected 85 faculty members of which 60 had already joined the institute. The hospital also boasts of six specialists who already has sufficient exposure of reputed international hospitals, said the director.
