July 20, 2011, New Delhi: Taking note of the reported mismanagement and poor upkeep of Bihar Niwas in New Delhi, chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday spoke to Resident Commissioner and directed the cabinet secretary and building construction secretary to visit Delhi next week and do the needful.
The CM was told about the condition of the Niwas at his assembly chamber by mediapersons who narrated their bitter experience of their stay there. They complained about poor maintenance, filth, seepage and other problems which the occupants always face. The suits of governor and CM are also situated at the Niwas.
Nitish first spoke to Bihar's Resident Commissioner in Delhi, A B Chaturvedi, and inquired about the situation. The official informed the CM that he had sent a proposal to the cabinet coordination department to undertake some work. The maintenance and upkeep of the Niwas has been outsourced.
Later, the CM directed cabinet secretary Ravi Kant and building secretary Sudhir Kumar to go to Delhi next week and, in consultation with Chaturvedi, take measures to ensure proper maintenance of Niwas, situated in posh Chanakyapuri locality.
