June 30, 2011, Patna: Senthil Kumar K, a senior IAS official and formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Patna Municipal Corporation, was today suspended by Bihar government on charge of corruption. According to a notification issued by state general administration department, Kumar K, was put under suspension following an FIR lodged against him by state vigilance bureau on July 21, 2010.The FIR was lodged under sections 467 (forgery of variable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property, 406 (criminal breah of trust) 409 criminal breach of trust by public servant of IPC and under prevention of corruption act. Kumar, who held the post of Chief Executive Officer cum commissioner of PMC from February 20, 2009 to February 23, 2010, recently returned from central deputation and was in waiting for posting at present, the notification said. He has been suspended with immediate effect, the notification said. Official sources said the sanction for his prosecution in the case was in process. Kumar would have to report to the GAD during the period of his suspension.
The 1996 batch IAS officer was the PMC commissioner for one year when financial irregularities were allegedly committed.
