Bhupat Ahir, Gujarat’s most wanted diamond robber arrested in Bihar

WANTED IN MORE THAN 18 CASES OF DIAMOND ROBBERIES
4 COPS AND A SON OF BHUPAT AHIR WERE KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT YESTERDAY
June 3, 2011, Bhojpur (Ara): One of Gujarat’s most-wanted criminal, Bhupat Ahir was arrested by Bihar police in Ara district on Tuesday. Ahir is wanted by Gujarat police in several cases of robbery and murder. The history-sheeter was nabbed by Bihar police in coordination with Bhavnagar police.

Gujarat police had informed its Bihar counterpart that members of a gang of thieves of diamonds, after stealing diamonds worth about Rs.1.20 crore from a diamond market at Nirmalnagar under Bhavnagar police station, had fled away and taken shelter somewhere in Bhojpur district.

Bihar police went into action and acting on a tip-off, raided Zamira village under Town police station and arrested Bhupat Ahir, son of Naran Ahir, of Lathi of Amreli in Gujarat. A countrymade pistol, three live cartridges, four mobile phones and about Rs 2,000 cash was recovered from him. The police also arrested Krishna Mohar Ojha alias Yogendra Yadav who had given shelter to Bhupat Ahir.

Gujarat police was on look for Ahir in an April 26 case in which he along with three other committed a early morning robbery of cash and diamond worth 13 lakhs in Bhavnagar (Gujarat).

Meanwhile, four policemen and a son of Bhupat Ahir were killed in an accident near Tarapur in Anand district when they were heading for Mumbai to nab Bhupat Ahir.
