Yet another embarrassment for Nitish govt.; MLA held for assault

Gopalganj, May 25, 2011: In yet another embarrassment to the Nitish government, JD (U) MLA Ramsevak Singh was on Tuesday arrested along with his brother, three bodyguards and  driver for allegedly assaulting four youths and pouring petrol into their rectum at Asmat Gola in Gopalganj district's Balesara village on Monday and Tuesday.
According to the complaint filed by the victims MLA’s bodyguards assaulted Afroz & Tavrez, relatives of a panchayat poll winner of the area. But it seems there was no stopping to the MLA’s atrocities. On Tuesday, the MLA's bodyguards allegedly took Vishal Singh and Rakesh Dubey to the Singh’s house and mercilessly assaulted them and the culprits later poured petrol into the rectum of the victims.
The medical examination of the victim confirm the charges. Following the medical report an FIR was filed against the erring MLA, his brother and  three bodyguards along with his driver.
Villagers said the wife of the MLA's brother contested the election for the post of Balesara mukhia, but lost. The DM admitted that though police were yet to probe the reason behind the crime, it prima facie appeared to be related with the panchayat election.
This is the second major embarrassment for Nitish government within a week.  On May 18 state’s Cooperative Minister and BJP MLA Ramadhar Singh has to resign as he was declared a “proclaimed absconder” in December 1995 and a non-bailable warrant was pending against him since then for defying prohibitory orders and making an inflammatory speech following the razing of the Babri masjid on December 6, 1992.
